Frequently compared to Strictly Come Dancing, Dancing On Ice took to our television screens on ITV in 2005 following a pilot Christmas Special. Originally called Stars on Thin Ice, novice celebrity contestants partnered with professional ice dancers under the guidance of Olympic figure skating champions, took to the ice in front of a team of experienced judges in a bid to become winners of the coveted Dancing On Ice trophy. Exciting, exhilarating and potentially dangerous, the series makes great demands on the abilities of the budding new ice skaters and is enjoying a resurgence in popularity.
